Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) refers to a number of treatment approaches designed to directly identify and target thought patterns and behaviors negatively contributing to one's daily life. Through the use of specific strategies and skills, individuals in CBT can make gains in a short amount of time. CBT is one of the most researched and effective psychological treatments available.
Our team believes in closely working with loved ones and community. We incorporate family coaching, psychoeducation, and parenting skills into treatment as appropriate. Family therapy can strengthen the skills necessary to improve communication, support, and response to a loved one's symptoms. We are one of the few treatment facilities in the country offering intensive out-patient treatment for obsessive compulsive related, anxiety, and mood disorders. Our staff has specialized training for many conditions, including obsessive compulsive disorder, body dysmorphic disorder, and hoarding disorder. Our pioneering intensive program was established in 1978 and has continued to expand and improve over the years. Unlike other programs, our treatment consists of individual sessions rather than group therapy.
We work closely with family, other agencies, and share patients with outside mental health professionals. Our staff will coordinate and update your other treatment providers to help you receive the most comprehensive treatment. Our dedicated staff communicates regularly to improve the quality of treatment we provide.
Our school refusal program is designed to help youth struggling to attend school on a regular basis. We conduct a comprehensive evaluation to determine the underlying cause of the child’s attendance difficulties, whether it may be separation anxiety, embarrassment of tics, or a fear of vomiting, to name a few. We determine the causes of the school refusal and directly target the child's symptoms. Our program offers home visits, family coaching, school visits, and collaboration with school personnel.

We offer home and out of office session to provide our patients with the hands on behavioral therapy that is often necessary to learn new skills and overcome one’s fears. Sessions outside of the office are designed to specifically target an individual’s difficulties. Sessions out of the office will be collaboratively designed with our patients during the course of therapy.
Our staff is trained in a variety of psychological testing methods based on the reason for the evaluation. Psychological assessment can be recommended to clarify a diagnosis by one of our psychologists, to develop an effective treatment plan, as a second opinion, for academic placement, and to identify factors which may impact treatment progress.
